As the global leader in responsible marketing activation services, HH Global is driving change to help businesses worldwide adopt more sustainable practices that not only create commercial growth but generate benefits for people and the planet at large.
This year we took an important step in our sustainability journey, engaging and enabling our colleagues worldwide to get involved in making a real impact on environmental projects with our Earth Day 2024 initiative.
Further, to coincide with the COP29 summit, we’ve released our full Earth Day 2024 report. Read here to learn how we aligned a global workforce to engage sustainability topics, empowering colleagues to help create the change they want to see in the world.
Highlights from our Earth Day 2024 initiative
How the initiative worked
At the core of our Earth Day 2024 initiative was the freedom for colleagues to select the environmental projects they wanted to support. We allocated each colleague $10 to put towards a project of their choice—with the projects ranging from plastic reduction to biodiversity conservation, woodland creation, solar energy and novel carbon removal.
By encouraging active participation and giving colleagues a personal choice, we promoted environmental practices that resonated deeply with our workforce across 63 countries.
Partnering with Pinwheel and King’s College Business School
To maximize reach and impact, we collaborated with two organizations for the campaign.
- Pinwheel, a corporate sustainability platform, enabled colleagues to choose regional projects that aligned with their environmental values, empowering them to take an active role in the initiatives they cared about most
- King’s College Business School provided insights that informed our communication and engagement strategies, ensuring each phase of the campaign resonated with and motivated our diverse workforce
Mobilizing a global workforce
It was key to the success of our Earth Day 2024 initiative that colleagues could take part without excessive time commitments. The campaign’s simplicity and ease of participation contributed to high engagement levels across all regions.
We also tailored the initiatives to reflect the priorities of various regions, enhancing colleague connections to projects with direct local impact.
- EMEA focused on solar energy projects and woodland and hedgerow creation in Wales
- North America emphasized marine biodiversity, including kelp restoration and turtle protection projects
- LATAM supported forest conservation and soil health improvement, with initiatives like biochar production in Brazil
- APAC prioritized renewable energy and greenhouse gas reduction, addressing regional emission challenges in countries like India
Building on Earth Day 2024 for lasting impact
Earth Day 2024 marked a significant step on our sustainability journey—demonstrating how a global workforce can be mobilized to collectively make a significant difference in addressing environmental challenges.
Taking those findings, our ongoing initiatives will include:
- Project impact tracking: We will monitor project outcomes, enhancing transparency and keeping colleagues invested in the long-term effects of their actions
- Year-round engagement: Developing a continuous engagement program to maintain momentum beyond Earth Day
- Regional customization: Tailoring project options to regional preferences and environmental priorities further
- Enhanced partnerships: Expanding collaboration with partners such as King’s College Business School to incorporate research-backed engagement methods
