Category Manager

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The role is for a seasoned candidate to manage the sourcing, development and production of promotional barware items within HH Global’s Central Sourcing Office (CSO) on behalf of FMCG/Retail brands to a high standard.

The candidate will have significant technical and manufacturing knowledge with retail and FMCG client experience and an established suppliers’ network in the Barware category.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Manage, deliver and over achieve on products, from brief through final delivery
  • Develop a right-sized, right capability supply base in the Barware category
  • Ensure compliance of all stakeholders within the defined process

Key Responsibilities:

Subject Matter Expertise

  • Analyse client brief with client team and input as a key subject matter expert before translating brief into technical RFQ for suppliers
  • Carry out supplier offers analysis in order to ensure competitive pricing and lead-time
  • Liaise with suppliers and the CSO Technical Adviser to optimise product and packaging and ensure production is planned in the most cost effective manner to provide savings to client
  • Liaise with client team to get feedback once the tender is submitted, making one’s best endeavour to bring improvements as needed
  • Ensure knowledge and technical expertise in the category is continuously up to date to provide the Central Sourcing Office with cutting edge expertise
  • Liaise continuously with internal and external stakeholders to remain informed of the latest industry innovations

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Develop a right-sized, right capability supply base to meet the diverse needs of our clients, filling the gap in the existing supply base
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers
  • On-board selected suppliers onto HH Global’s SRM software and technology platform
  • Support the process around vendor contracts and negotiations with Hong Kong office
  • Ensure the selected suppliers meet our clients’ quality standards, timelines and corporate and social responsibility, and work towards continuous improvement, sustainable cost reduction and innovation
  • Prepare business continuity plans to ensure the security of supply
  • Develop and implement KPI’s to measure supplier performance
  • Develop new supply categories as needed to support business development activity
  • Explore new technologies in material / production which can help underpin HH Global’s values in regard to sustainability

Quality Assurance

  • Take full responsibility to deliver high quality, safe and regulatory compliant goods and to reduce risk to the business of incorrect or sub-standard products being delivered
  • Align supplier’s ability with client expectations, anticipate any issues that may arise due to tolerance in the production process or technical difficulties
  • Work with the CSO Quality Compliance Manager to develop appropriate QA documentation for each project and have it signed off by both the client and the supplier
  • Work with the CSO Quality Compliance Manager and our 3rd party QC & testing service provider to perform the Central Sourcing Office’s Quality Assurance process for each project to ensure prototypes, production sample and finished goods meet client’s quality expectations and safety and regulatory compliance

Process

  • Strictly follow the company’s policy and procedure, especially in regards to the use of the company’s technology platform
  • Ensure all internal and external stakeholders comply with the way of working and processes
  • Follow up with external stakeholders to collect necessary documentation and contracts
  • Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement and share them with the team to ensure the most efficient way of working is being adopted

Requirements

  • In-depth Barware items production knowledge and a minimum of 5 years’ experience within the Barware market place
  • Deep knowledge and experience of metal, glassware, plastics and wood materials and related manufacturing processes
  • Strong knowledge of the safety and regulatory compliance requirements and testing protocols for the EU and US markets
  • Established suppliers’ network in the Barware category
  • Good communication skills working alongside suppliers and the CSO Technical Advisor to define the best construction, materials and manufacturing process
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work to a high technical level under pressure and be a good team player
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to develop realistic and comprehensive sourcing timetables
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise work
  • Experience working in a global organisation and supporting the global team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
