Our Commitment to Sustainability

Our Commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals

UN Sustainable Development Goals

We are committed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as part of our sustainability strategy, “Innovation with Purpose.” Our contribution through fostering sustainable practices in marketing execution allow us to focus our contribution on three of the goals.

Goal 15: Life on Land

By 2020, we will aim to save 32,000 trees.

By setting this commitment for the fiscal year 2019, we will contribute to SDG target 15.2 “By 2020, promote the implementation of sustainable management of all types of forests, halt deforestation, restore degraded forests and substantially increase afforestation and reforestation globally.”

In 2018, we launched our global sustainability targets, setting out to save 32,000 trees - enough to occupy 40 acres - for the 2019 fiscal year. Our partnerships with clients help them make ecologically-sound paper choices that have the power to reduce deforestation. Our Sustainable Materials Policy, supported by our alliance with the non-for-profit forest conservation organization Canopy, is the implementation of our commitment to reduce the impact on forests and ultimately the ramifications to its habitats.

Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

By 2020, we will sustainably and efficiently use natural resources to save 100 million liters of water, 9,000 tons of CO2 and 8,000 MWh of energy.

By setting this commitment, we contribute to SDG target 12.2 “By 2030, achieve the sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources.”

We are committed to responsible consumption and production by reducing our material footprint. Our global sustainability targets recognize the carbon, energy emissions, and water consumption associated with the manufacture of paper. Our 2019 fiscal year targets also set out to save 100 million liters of water - enough to fill 40 Olympic-size swimming pools, 9,000 tons of CO2 - equivalent to the removal of 2,000 average cars from the road and 8,000 MWh of energy - equivalent to the energy to power 900 average homes for a year. By promoting sustainable paper choices, we can assess the impact of marketing programs on natural resources and seek to minimize these impacts.

Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure

We will develop innovative solutions that boost profits, protect the environment, and contribute to society.

By setting this commitment, we contribute to SDG target 9.5 “Enhance scientific research, upgrade the technological capabilities of industrial sectors in all countries, in particular developing countries, including, by 2030, encouraging innovation and substantially increasing the number of research and development workers per 1 million people and public and private research and development spending.”

We are committed to innovation through our award-winning internal idea incubator, HH Labs. A pillar of our sustainability strategy, we believe that innovative marketing execution can help address global challenges, such as climate change. HH Global has won prestigious awards for innovation, such as the Sustainable Product Innovation edie Award in January 2018 for its Quality Printer Program (QPP). QPP delivers reputable color quality while improving processes and reducing waste in the supply chain. The program has been available to global vendor partners developing the technological capabilities of printing across a range of countries.

We will report our performance towards these commitments annually.
