CASE STUDY: ADOPTION OF SUSTAINABILITY PRINCIPLES
Bayer partners with HH Global to work towards sustainability in procurement
Bayer has launched a program in collaboration with HH Global to encourage the adoption of six new sustainability principles. Adhering to these principles when ordering Marketing Print, POS and Promotional articles will contribute to Bayer's target to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions by 12.3% by 2029 (from 2019 base year) in a cost neutral or cost positive way.
The six principles of HH Global and Bayer are:
- Ensure fair working conditions in the supply chain
- Use less material
- Reduce waste
- Eliminate PVC and reduce plastic
- Use recycled materials
- Drive circular end of life management
They are in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals as well as Bayer’s Science-Based Targets.
HH Global have developed execution strategies for Bayer to deliver each of these goals. Driving sustainability in procurement often impacts the upstream. But HH Global, by changing the way they produce marketing and promotional materials, also impacts the downstream, positively affecting sales and business. HH Global will also provide support in the form of toolkits, material guidelines, identifying opportunities and sharing best practices to marketing stakeholders. Progress against each principle’s target will be tracked, validated, and reported via a customised dashboard.
